Happy Turkey Day!

Well internet friends it would appear Thanksgiving has come this year and it was pretty great. This year we had it at our house seeing as how we have a new one. I am thankful for many things this year. I am thankful for my loving family and my home. I am happy that all the adults I know have jobs in this bad economy, the teenagers though not so much. I am thankful that I got a new laptop on black Friday and didn't have to fight through a massive group of crazies to get it. I had a big dinner on Thanksgiving that I am now regretting. We had turkey, of course, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, noodles, beef stew type stuff, pie, cake, muffins, rolls, and corn. I was all very good. My sister made the noodles and she got tired of cutting them, so she used cookie cutters. The cookie cutters then gave the noodles various alphabet shapes. So we could write messages with our noodles. Last but not least, I am thankful for all of my wonderful friends. I know I don't always show it, but I do appreciate you guys.

Convention!

Today me and my youth group are heading up to Indianapolis for the state youth convention. It should be really fun. The convention is basically like three days of church along with activities. I don't know what all we are going to though, but it should be really fun. I think one of the things we are doing is some type of community service project. I also think we are going to Circle Center Mall, which sounds fun. I would like to stay in Indianapolis for a little while longer, but some of our people need to be back in time to a swing concert performance at the church. It should still be fun, though. We are going to b e coming back on Sunday. We are thinking of having a prank war, but I am not sure if we are actually going to be doing it or not. Either way it should be a blast.

So it has just come to attention that I have a semi-regular reader in Russia, I also discovered that someone in the country of Slovenia has read my blog. I find this interesting yet strange at the same time, but if you are one of the readers in those countries, pleases leave a comment!

Limerick

There once was a girl named Sue
Who had a large jar of goo
She hid from her friends
For how long it depends
And when they came she jumped and said boo

Fall Break!

So today is the last day of school before fall break! I am pretty stoked about that. In other news we are right in the middle of the fruit selling process for prom. People already seem to be going crazy over it even though it is like six months away. Tomorrow me, Aris, Morgan, and Lance might be going to Jasper. We are probably going to Game Stop and Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart should be fun, and its always fun for us Pike County people to go to Jasper and taunt them. Also the Mountain Dew slushie machine at the shell station in Oakland is broken, and I am not happy about that at all! The slushies are very good and with the machine broken I need to figure out where to find another one. I wonder if they have any in Jasper? It does not make any sense, though, because the large is cheaper than the small, so I assume that they thought that people would not pay attention and buy the small and assume that it is cheaper. Remember nothing is more fun than the toy aisle at Wal-Mart. They always have such neat plastic swords and battle axes. The only problem is that the nerf guns are in boxes and they don't let you "test" them in the store. :P
In any instance I think I will come up with another random thing to talk about. The show Adventure Time is rather bizarre. There is a new episode on tonight, but last week's episode was thoroughly evil. You see there is this character on the show thats like a vampire queen or something like that and this episode had her dad on it. That would not be strange seeing as how almost every show has stinkin vampires on it, but this vampire was particularly freaky. He was eating penguin souls. Thats right penguin souls! I am sorry, but that is pretty mean.

Movie Review

The Tom Cruise film War of the Worlds is certainly not the best of all movies about an alien invasion out there. The special effects are good, but a little bit over the top. The most sensationalistic of all the scenes would have to be the scene where they are fighting on the hill top in New Jersey and they are hitting the tripods with Abrams tanks, Apache helicopters, and F-22 fighters, and they all do nothing to them. That is a pointless scene which I made was not even close to anything they had in the book.

I have actually read the book three times and the differences between the movie and the novel are striking. The movie is actually based off of the Orson Welles radio play from the 30's. The book did not even take place in America. The book took place in Victorian Britain at the turn of the twentieth century. In the book they could actually kill the aliens with their weapons. The book is also more interesting because it has a section that focuses entirely on the narrators brother. The narrator was also not a divorced man with two children. he was a married man with no children. The only thing that was actually the same was the ending, which I will not reveal here.

Although the special effects are good, they are not enough to justify seeing this movie. Admittedly, Tom Cruise is not my favorite actor, but I don't think that this movie would be any good even if it had a completely different cast. The scene that was most similar to the book would have to be the scene in the farm house. That scene was the best scene in the movie, and the only one that truly does justice to the novel. Although there is this one bright spot, I would have to suggest avoiding this move.

Free Write Friday

So today is free write day and I have no idea what to write about, so I will talk about random things that are going on right now. I found some game on Facebook called diplomacy. Apparently it is based off a board game, where the purpose is to take over enough countries to win. It is kinda like Risk, but there is no dice and you have to make alliances with other players. The problem is that they can betray you and work against you. In other words it is a game based on lies and deceit, sounds like the perfect game for young people to play. I hope that we do not have to write a story for free write and that this post will work, because I have writer's block today. I did have to write a story in short stories this week. It was kinda like the thing we did with the pictures, but it was a lot longer than what we did. I wrote mine about a guy standing in front of a Korean War memorial. He was remembering about what happened to him in the war. I picked it because it seemed like the easiest of the picture. The others were a girl from the 1920's, a homeless teenager/druggie, and an old woman who was holding flowers and standing in front of Grand Central Station or something like that. The teenager might have been easy, but I would not want to right a story about a drug addict, because that would be weird, and the old lady was, well waiting on someone, but that is not the kind of story that I am into. FInally we have the girl from the 1920's, she was young, so it would be easy to work with, but since see was from like ninety years ago, and it was kind of akward. Aris is coming over tonight, I think, and Neil was supposed to hang out with us this weekend, but he might not get to come now. I might come up with a story later, I don't know. I usually have to have and idea before I can start writing. I can't usually sit down and write something off the top of my head, but if I have and idea I can usually take off with it and come up with something pretty good. I decided that I would rather just post this to my blog instead of writing it or typing it, seeing as how I don't really have a topic. I figured it would be strange rambling in a non-public way, so now all the world gets to see my randomness. Well now people's internet is freaking out, so I better post this before I lose it!

Techy Question

I feel that as Americans we can compete in the global economy. I feel that we can because we have traditionally been dominant in technology. I we will probably continue to be dominate as long as we keep educating our students and don't waste our time on pointless things. We need to not be distracted by pointless things like the Jersey Shore and start focusing on the things that are important. The other countries usually just tell their people what to study and I do not think that is the best way to do it. I believe that if people are allowed to study what they want then they will work harder and be more likely to achieve more and contribute more the greater good.

Hairy Situation

Not much big planned this weekend, but you know there are always spur of the moment opportunities. I am getting a hair cut after school, so thats pretty cool. I have to get a whole bunch of hair chopped off every once and awhile or else bad things will happen. You see my hair does not grow down like normal people's, instead it denies the laws of gravity and poofs out to the side and creates and white boy fro. That sounds a lot cooler in theory than it does in practice. I used to have it 8 grade and that was a rather disturbing time so I will not dwell on it. I am pretty sure that when the fro grows the thickness of the hair creates a rather large heat pocket the makes my brain sweat and that combined with school equal major overload. Not cool is the best way to describe that, but on second thought it would make a good winter coat to be used in place of a hat or something.

Fifty Nifty United States

So facebook crashed when I got home from school so I had to find something more productive to do until it started working. I really just played on the internet for like two hours and then facebook started working. I decided that I should click the like button on every state in the country, I even did territories. The only state I haven't added yet is Illinois and that is because Illinois has crappy pages, so I might have to make one just to satisfy from obsessive compulsive need to have them all. I was telling my friend Minnesota about it while I was doing it. Ok, his name isn't really Minnesota, its Abe, but that is where he is from, so that is what we call him. He's a freshman, but he's cool. I also recently learned that the song Whispers in the Dark by Skillet is completely AWESOME! I actually never realized until recently that Skillet is a Christian band. I always thought that they were just a regular rock band until I saw a shirt that had them and Toby Mac both on it. Shortly after that I heard one of their songs for the first time, so now they're like my new favorite band. Anyway I've got big things to do this weekend. I am going to work on my numbered story, but I need to come up with a girl's name. I am not good at coming up with names, that is the one problem I have writing. I also might be going to Lafayette to see one of my sisters because she just had her second baby, its a girl and I am pretty excited about that.

Procrastination

Well I should be working on my numbered story, but I'm not. I have a reason though, the hardest part of writing for me is coming up with names for characters and I need a girl's name to continue. That and I don't feel like working on it at the moment. Yeah, I know that it sounds horrible, shame and horror to me for that attitude. Its not as bad as all that really, I have forward thinking, I emailed it to myself so I can work on it at home if I come up with a name at some point. I am beginning to think I should just use the names of people I know in stories. I won't use their last names, though, because that would be creepy. First names not creepy, last names not creepy, using first names and last names extremely creepy. Which is why I won't do that, as I said before I don't care for the creepers. In other news I am going to youth group with my friends tonight, for the past three weeks we were supposed to have had a talk about relationships, but never have. So maybe we will tonight. Anyway I had something really clever and witty to say, but I forgot what it is.

Of Snipes and Camping

So last friday a whole bunch of us went camping at Ethen's house and we went snipe hunting. Now I had never been snipe hunting, but I knew what it is so I said I had before so I wouldn't get ditched in the woods. Now the guy we left in the field keeps telling people we left him for five hours when we actually just left him for like fifteen to thirty minutes and they were on their way back when we went back on the gator and got them. Anyway we played a game called mafia. It is based on lies and deceit, in other words it is the perfect game for young people to play. In any case we were probably too good at it because the mafia team won practically every game except one. When all was said and done only me, Minnesota, and this other guy got stuck in the tent, everyone else went inside. Except Aris he went home all together, all though he was the one we took snipe hunting.

Wilderness Excursion

Tonight I get to help work on a demo car for a church. Then after that I'm going camping at my friend's house. We are so extrme, we're camping in his backyard! Well I hope there is smores, because it's not real camping unless there's smores. Anyway this should be fun, we would go out in the woods, but I be scared if I was lost in the woods with my friends.

Me! (Hold all Applause til the End Please)

So I guess for this assignment I will have to talk about myself. Well I always found this kind of assignment akward but i'll give it my best shot. I am a very patriotic person, thus I have a picture of an American flag. I like to read and hangout with friends.
I am a Christian and that is very important to me. I also have a very weird sense of humor so I will find things entertaining that most people would think is stupid. I enjoy listening to music and going on Facebook. One of my new favorite things to do is watch videos on YouTube. I have learned that there are some pretty weird things out there and some people should have to take an IQ test before they are allowed to post things to the internet. Anyway the internet is a load of fun, when you aren't conversing with idiots and by idiots I mean weirdo creepers, but you know that's just my pet peeves coming out there. Yeah, don't care for the creepers.
Well I guess I could go into the usual rant about what my favorite colors are and stuff like that. I'd rather not but for the sake of posterity its blue and green. I like both. They remind me of Army uniforms so thats pretty epic. Also egg rolls are good, bring me chinese food. That is what I like to call randomness I do that a lot. lol and uh.... jk. Yeah I'm not good with internet short hand abbreviation thingies. I used to have a story on this blog, but I deleted it because it was pretty stupid. Seriously it had ninja mounties in it, so unless you enjoy talking moose you wouldn't want to read it. Hmm......... I got nothing, so bye. :-), oh i'm also the only person in the world to type smiley faces with noses.

Learning and New Beginnings

Guess what internet friends! I moved to Winslow on Friday, yay! Anyway, turns out that I have to use this blog in my creative writing class or make a new one. I don't know if I can use this one though seeing as how I linked it to my facebook profile, but oh well. I need a new format, but I still don't know what it should be yet. I don't even know if anyone even reads this, so if you do please leave some feedback.

new beginnings

So, basically I deleted most of my blog cuz I realized it sucked. I have decided that I should try a new format and not have that stupid story I was writing on here because it is not my best work, so i will come up with a new format. I just dont know what it is yet

A New Post For A New Year

It's 2010, people, so party down. Yeah, happiness and fun for everyone. As I ponder the past decade I think of all the things that have changed and all the new technology that has surfaced. Good things have happened and bad things have happened, but I will reflect on the good things. Last decade gave us Google, twitter, i-pods, fancy cars with hands-free communication devices, fancy overpriced coffee drinks, and the wonder that is the Nintendo Ds. Hey, we also have blogs now. Who would have thought about that back in the 90's? Nobody, that's who. The 90's had no forward thinking and was a time of bad ideas, like creepy teen idol boy bands. The good news is that we don't need them any more because we have American Idol. Admit it you only watch to see the people who think that they are good singers, but really really stink. Back to the Nintendo thing, look at the 90's all we had was the Game Boy Color. Sure it was fun with colorful wonderments, but now we have a portable game we two screens. Because we're worth it. The next ten years will undoubtably bring new wonders and a bunch of other stuff that we will buy but not really need. I mean whose up for a cell phone that can make calls, go on the internet, play videos, play music, takes pictures, runs on nuclear fusion, doubles as a tazer, end global warming, and tell the meaning of life. I mean we're close, we already have phones that let us talk while downloading the lastest videos all down in 3G.
